Homeless Protection Act Purpose: To ensure that homeless individuals are not harassed, abused or unfairly targeted by law enforcement and to provide necessary assistance to the homeless population. Section 1: Definitions a. Homeless individual - Any person who is without a permanent dwelling, including persons who are living on the streets, in a shelter, or in a vehicle. b. Harassment - Any act or behavior that is intended to cause alarm, distress, or fear to a homeless individual. c. Unfair targeting - The act of singling out homeless individuals for scrutiny or enforcement actions on the basis of their housing status. Section 2: Police Conduct a. Unemployment Benefits Increase Act Introduction: This bill seeks to increase the maximum weekly unemployment benefits for qualified Floridians. The current rate of unemployment benefits is not enough to address the needs of Floridians who have lost their jobs due to various reasons, especially during times of economic downturns. This bill proposes an increase in the maximum weekly unemployment benefits payment to $440, to better support those in need. Section 1: Definitions (a) Unemployment Benefits: It refers to the weekly cash payments made to eligible individuals who have lost their jobs. Section 2: Increase in Weekly Unemployment Benefits (a) The maximum weekly unemployment benefits payment for qualified Floridian individuals shall be increased to $440. (b) This provision shall be effective for all new benefit claims made on or after 1st January 2022.
