Here are some examples of activities that the Climate Conservation Corps could undertake to help restore ecosystems, mitigate the effects of climate change, and conserve natural resources:
1. Tree Planting: Planting trees helps reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, providing much-needed oxygen, and helps prevent soil erosion.
2. Wetland Restoration: Wetlands are critical ecosystems that help to filter pollutants and sediment from our waterways and can help absorb excess water from storms and prevent flooding.
3. Beach Cleanup: Collecting trash and debris on beaches and shorelines can prevent wildlife harm and improve water quality.
4. Energy efficiency projects: Improving energy efficiency within public buildings and schools can result in less consumption of energy, reduced greenhouse emissions, and noticeable cost savings.
5. Wildlife Refuge Support: Making sure wildlife habitats and national parks are thriving and safe for animal populations.
6. Restoration of Native Plants, Gardens, and Forests: Allowing for healthy natural environments to flourish by planting native plants and undoing damage from invasive species
7. Public Transportation Promotions: Encouraging the use of public transport to reduce private vehicle emissions and increase cost savings.
8. Energy audits and surveys: Conducting energy audits to identify barriers to energy conservation and efficiency.
9. Environmental Education: Raising awareness about large-scale environmental concerns through documentaries, blogs, educational talks, and science fiction novels.
10. Green Infrastructure: Assiting in the installation of green roofs, permeable pavement, bioswales, rain gardens, and other green infrastructure solutions to redirect water runoff and reduce pressure on the water system.
These activities may fall under different divisions of the CCC based on interests and expertise.
