The Diabetes Prevention and Control Act Section 1: Short Title  This Act may be cited as the Diabetes Prevention and Control Act. Section 2: Findings  The Congress finds as follows: (1) Diabetes is a serious disease that affects millions of people in the United States, with devastating consequences for health, quality of life, and economics. (2) Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States and a major cause of heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, and amputations. (3) In 2018, it was estimated that 34 million individuals had diabetes in the United States, with an additional 88 million with prediabetes. (4) Diabetes is preventable, manageable, and reversible through a combination of healthy lifestyle choices and medical care. (5) Preventing and controlling diabetes requires a comprehensive approach that combines prevention, early detection, treatment, and education.
