Section 2: Definitions (a) Ocean: The body of saltwater that covers most of the Earth's surface, including the five major oceans. (b) Oxygen: A gas that is essential for the survival of most forms of life, particularly those in the ocean. (c) Marine ecosystem: A community of plants, animals, and microorganisms that live in the ocean and interact with each other and their physical surroundings. (d) Ocean pollution: The introduction of harmful substances, such as plastic waste, chemicals, and oil, into the ocean. (e) Climate change: The long-term change in the Earth's climate, primarily caused by human activities that release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
